Child and Youth Studies (CHYS) is one of the most popular programs at Brock. You will learn from a broad-based approach that considers the individual child or youth within the context of the family, school, peer group and community.
Our interdisciplinary department is committed to providing students with a rich educational experience that will prepare them for professional or academic careers in schools, hospitals, community agencies or universities.
With interdisciplinary roots in psychology, education, sociology, cultural studies and criminology, our degree gives you the academic background to pursue a wide variety of careers or to pursue further studies in graduate programs. Experiential learning opportunities in schools and agencies will give you valuable experience for your résumé.
The department has been offering undergraduate degrees since 1993, an MA program since 2000 and a new PhD program in 2016.
Our faculty includes many nationally and internationally recognized scholars who work to high standards for teaching and research. Our staff work closely with them to guide our students through their programs. We are all approachable and dedicated to maintaining the highest quality of education.
