McConnell Foundation Community Dialogue: Harnessing Brock’s Role as Change Agent
In 2021, Brock held a community consultation in partnership with the McConnell Foundation to better understand and receive feedback on our role in the community and what the University can work towards in the future. The community consultation reaffirmed the importance of Brock’s role as a positive change agent and provided key recommendations that highlighted a central theme for Brock to focus on through its community engagement-diversification. With this feedback in mind, Brock has assessed its current state in supporting the recommendations of the community and what we can do to better support them in the future. This community consultation served as an important guide to informing Brock’s strategic direction to community engagement and our vision of a collaborative, engaged, and thriving Niagara.

The new Community Engagement Strategic Plan builds on and strengthens Brock’s history of community collaboration in the Niagara region and beyond. Community engagement will support each of Brock’s strategic objectives and enhance the life and vitality of our local region and beyond.
The plan has five goals:
- Foster a culture of meaningful community engagement
- Support knowledge mobilization
- An open and accessible community resource
- Communicate and connect with the community
- Support experiential learning and educational pathways

Brock’s strategic plan highlights our shared vision, mission, values and priorities that will lead Brock forward to 2025. The realization of these strategic priorities will advance Brock as a comprehensive university that offers a transformational and accessible academic and university experience; fosters a culture of inclusivity, accessibility, reconciliation and decolonization; enhances the life and vitality of our local region and beyond; and further builds the University’s research capacity.

Brock’s SMA submission to the Ministry of Advanced Skills and Education reaffirmed the University’s commitment to the 21st century student and to transdisciplinary research. It also highlights its commitment to the development of community partnerships that are driving social and economic development through innovation.
Report of the President’s Task Force on Community Engagement
全球电竞直播 ’s president asked a group of community figures to evaluate the Univesity’s community engagement and to develop recommendations on how to enhance its future efforts to make an even more significant social, economic and environmental impact on the surrounding communities. The report outlines the Task Force’s recommendations.
Students Going Digital: the economic impact on Niagara
The COVID-19 pandemic forced post-secondary institutions to shift many programs to a virtual model, greatly impacting the Niagara region given the presence of both Niagara College and 全球电竞直播 . Though certain aspects of the post-secondary experience remained in-person, declining enrollment and the ability to remain at-home while studying virtually led to a significant decrease in post-secondary students living in Niagara. Considering this, the purpose of the paper is to present data identifying the subsequent economic effect through the lens of post-secondary education in Niagara.

Experiences of Racialized Communities During COVID-19
The COVID-19 pandemic has had a significant impact on all Canadians, but new research shows how racialized and marginalized communities have been disproportionally affected. The groundbreaking research project was led by co-investigators Gervan Fearon, President of 全球电竞直播 , and Walid Hejazi, Associate Professor of Economic Analysis and Policy at the University of Toronto, in partnership with the Canadian Arab Institute .
The report below identifies the challenges faced by marginalized groups and makes recommendations to inform government policy, program development and civil society interventions.
