The mission of Aboriginal Student Services (AbSS) is to provide academic and cultural support for Aboriginal students. With that in mind, The Gathering Place for Good Minds was relocated in 2016, offering a larger Student Resource Centre in TH 145.

1.   Desktop computers are available for student use between the hours of 8:30am and 4:30pm. Additionally, self-identified students may request extended access to the student lounge from 6:00am-8:30am and 4:30pm–11:00pm.*tentative hours (subject to change).

  • While use is not limited to academic purposes, students with academic needs will be given priority.
  • Only covered beverages are permitted in the computer area.

2.   Laptops are available to self-identified students and can be signed out.

3.   An Aboriginal media library consisting of books, DVDs and journals is available to the entire Brock community. This is considered a special collection of the James A. Gibson library, and as such, borrowers are subject to library policy regarding the borrowing period for the items and the late fees.

4.   Print and fax services for academic work are available to Aboriginal students at no cost.

5.   A phone with reasonable long distance use is available for Aboriginal students who need to contact members of their home community for support.

6.   Photographs of the Gathering Place for Good Minds spaces are permitted if prior approval is granted by Sandra Wong, Director, Aboriginal Student Services, and meeting the following guidelines:

  • In certain scenarios photos may not be appropriate, please be mindful of this and always check with Aboriginal Student Services staff.
  • Photography release forms must be signed by all parties who appear in the photographs and the forms are submitted to AbSS office. ( Download form )
  • Arrangements are made to have the photo shoot overseen by an AbSS designate.
  • A copy of each photo is provided to AbSS for promotional use.
  • Photos are published (print or electronic) with the following caption: “Photo opportunity provided by Aboriginal Student Services, Student Success Centre, 全球电竞直播 .” *

7.   Designated smudging area is available for students who practice this ceremony. If you are looking for a space to smudge, speak with a staff member of the AbSS team and they will direct you to the space. For smudging ceremonies outside of AbSS, please refer to the 全球电竞直播 Smudging Policy .
