Failure to Comply with COVID-19 Guidelines

The Student Code of Conduct supports the creation of an environment that ensures the safety, security and well-being of our campus and community. This also applies to the responsibilities of students to follow 全球电竞直播 and government COVID-19 guidelines. Recognizing that this is an unprecedented situation and that Brock is a place of learning and development, our response to students who fail to adhere to COVID-19 prevention guidelines while on campus will be driven by an educational approach with an option to engage our student conduct processes.

Should a student have reasonable grounds to not wear Personal Protective Equipment, they may contact Darryl Veld (Associate Director, Student Affairs dveld@brocku.ca ) to receive an identifier that they are expected to keep on their person at all times. For more information on exemptions, please see this article from the Brock News. At all times, the reasonable discretion of University officials will be used to ensure the well-being of the Brock community.

Accordingly, our response will follow an escalating process:

Failure to follow guidelines will result in Campus Security Services (“CSS”) documenting of student information and incident and the student will receive educational materials from CSS or Student Affairs on the importance of following preventative guidelines and resources available.

These incidents will be reported to Student Affairs for record keeping until the COVID-19 pandemic is deemed by Brock to have concluded.

Failure to follow preventative guidelines will result in CSS documenting student information and incident and the student will again receive educational materials on the importance of following preventative guidelines and resources available.

A second incident will trigger a written warning from the office of the Associate Director of Student Affairs that will reiterate the expectations and resources available to the student. If necessary, a short educational assignment will be required.

Failure to follow preventative guidelines will result in CSS documenting student information and incident and the student will receive educational materials on the importance of following preventative guidelines, and resources available.

A third incident will trigger a requirement to meet with the Associate Director of Student Affairs to review expectations, understandings and at the discretion of the Director or Associate Director, may result in action under the Student Code of Conduct.

Significant Compliance Concerns

Some incidents may require immediate action under the Code of Conduct and may induce a report to government officials. For example, a student who breaches any requirements related to quarantine or self-isolation will be subject to a Code of Conduct hearing and any issues related to compliance will be reported to the appropriate local and provincial authority. More information on quarantine requirements can be found on this on  this Canada.ca webpage .
